Clearfly Product Announcement (visit our blog for more news) Clearfly announces availability of Mobile SIP product Billings, MT - April 6th, 2009 Clearfly Communications, http://www.clearfly.net, an infrastructure-based provider of integrated communications solutions for the small and medium business community announced today the availability of its Mobile SIP product, a revolutionary approach to business communications. With Mobile SIP, businesses can leverage their PBX and wireless LAN to automatically route part of their mobile traffic to their in-house network. “According to industry research, over 50% of mobile business calls in the US are dialed or received within radio coverage of an 802.11 access point”, said Clearfly CEO Mauro Calvi. That means a lot of bandwidth is available for voice calls while in the office, at home, or wherever an authenticated access point is available, resulting in much greater voice quality than experienced over cellular networks. Switching a portion of a customer’s mobile traffic to Wi-Fi also results in significant savings in cellular costs. “We always believed that in order for fixed-mobile-convergence to take hold in the business market, there had to be a mechanism for seamlessly transferring an active call between the two networks” said Calvi. With Mobile SIP, a sales person can initiate a customer call in the office over Wi-Fi, grabbing a SIP trunk off their PBX, leave the office and drive home, and eventually switch over to her home Wi-Fi network, all without noticeable signs of these transitions having occurred, except for a slight drop in voice quality while using the cellular network. Clearfly’s Mobile SIP trunk utilizes dual mode (cellular and Wi-Fi) handsets, such as the Nokia E series business handsets, including the latest E63, which, thanks to a street price slightly above $200 when bought unlocked, has finally dispelled the notion that these handsets are too expensive for the average SMB. An application running on the handset communicates with Clearfly equipment in the backend to make decisions regarding the best network to utilize based on signal strength and latency. In addition to handling network handoffs, the client application enables the mobile phone to act as an extension of the office desktop phones, supporting features such as 4 digit dialing, call hold and transfer, plus standard unified communications features such as simultaneous ring, presence and instant messaging. “Companies have made significant investments in their PBX’s and have learned to depend on its functionality for increased employee productivity” said Calvi. “Mobile SIP capitalizes on these investments by extending the power of the PBX to mobile communications.” Mobile SIP is available to Clearfly’s Clearphone customers for an additional monthly fee.
